Carphone Warehouse has warned that investment and adverse currency movements will push net debt and capital expenditure far higher than City estimates.

The west London-based telecommunications group expected net debt for the year to March 2008 would be about £850m, compared with a previous forecasts of £660m, because of a £120m currency-related charge and a £50m charge from higher subscriber acquisition costs, such as a free laptop deal for AOL customers.
