Alitalia’s fate rests with Air France-KLM board

Alitalia could be left considering bankruptcy proceedings unless a meeting on Monday of the board of Air France-KLM decides to resume takeover negotiations with trade unions representing workers of the struggling Italian airline.

Jean-Cyril Spinetta, chairman of Air France-KLM, walked out of talks with officials from eight unions in Rome last week after they rejected his restructuring plan. One of the larger unions had boycotted the talks altogether.
