Corporate manslaughter law tightens

Companies will be exposed to more police investigations, higher fines and a wider range of possible offences, lawyers claim, under a new corporate manslaughter law due to come into force next month.

But critics of the long-awaited act – which gives the courts greater powers to shame companies – say it is too mild and lets individual managers off the hook.
