US stocks failed to sustain their rally on Wednesday, moving lower by the close as the euphoria of the previous session faded in the face of rising oil prices and the slumping dollar.

Crude oil futures hit an all-time high of $110.20, while the dollar fell to a fresh record low against the euro and a basket of leading currencies.
