If Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile phone operator, were to buy MTN, Africa’s largest wireless company, it would undoubtedly be a game-changing transaction. The combined entity would be catapulted into the industry’s top tier, given that by market capitalisation they are already the 13th and 17th largest telecoms companies in the world.
