Leading Aids researchers on Sunday made the case for the widespread use of two important HIV drugs to be used preventively in high-risk groups to limit the spread of the infection.
The AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition, which works with scientists and policymakers, was among those to request urgent extra funding to study daily “pre-exposure prophylaxis” (Prep) use of the oral drugs tenofovir and emtricitabine, currently prescribed to treat many who have already been infected.
