Anglo hit by SA power shortages

Power shortages in South Africa and strike action in Venezuela saw Anglo-American’s first-quarter production of platinum, nickel and coal tumble although copper output improved on higher grades.

But it announced a new rhodium sales agreement that could net $213m this year, and the $708m sale of a small stake in China Shenhua Energy.
