Wolfson forced into job cuts

Wolfson Microelectronics warned that “belts need to be brought in a notch” as a 17 per cent drop in first-half profits forced a round of job cuts.

The semiconductor maker is exposed to any slowdown in the consumer electronics market and recently lost the contract to supply chips for Apple’s iPod but remains a supplier to the iPhone.
