Data help US blue chips stay positive

Wall Street stocks bounced back modestly on Friday as data on housing and manufacturing and consumer sentiment came in stronger than expected and investors focused on the positive in another mixed bag of earnings reports.

According to the Commerce Department, new orders for durable goods rose unexpectedly in June and the data boosted industrial stocks.
