US downturn hits PepsiCo beverages

PepsiCo on Wednesday said the downturn in the US economy was hurting sales of soft drinks, including its Aquafina bottled water.

The company said sales of soft drinks were falling in US convenience stores, including its Gatorade brand. Sales volumes dropped 3 per cent in North America against a 1 per cent fall in the quarter overall.
