Mitt Romney flew to the Midwest yesterday hoping to revive his stalled presidential campaign in the Michigan primary next Tuesday, writes Andrew Ward. The state has become a must-win for the former Massachusetts governor after crushing defeats in Iowa and New Hampshire.
He has vowed to fight his way back into contention but a third consecutive defeat next week would probably end his White House ambitions. Mr Romney cancelled television advertising in South Carolina and Florida, which both vote later this month, to refocus resources on Michigan.
