It has been a busy month for art enthusiasts as Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips de Pury & Company held their twice-a-year sales of contemporary, modern and Impressionist art in New York. Now the well-heeled are looking south – to Art Basel Miami Beach, and an important sister event, Design Miami.

The city’s three-day design fair focuses on gallery-quality limited edition modern and contemporary pieces, which are displayed amid elaborate installations. It also incorporates live design performances, talks with designers and a number of important satellite exhibitions.
