Chicago moves to privatise Midway airport

Chicago kicked off the US’s first privatisation of a large airport Wednesday by asking for proposals to operate the city’s Midway airport under a 50-year lease.

The privatisation, which is expected to bring in up to $3bn, will provide welcome relief to the city’s underfunded public pension plans and could help replace Chicago’s ageing infrastructure.
