Sir Tom Hunter, the retail and property entrepreneur, has continued buying shares in Dobbies Garden Centres, baiting Tesco, which has acquired a majority of shares in the chain.

After a tetchy battle between Sir Tom’s West Coast Capital vehicle and the country’s largest supermarket group, Tesco launched a £155.6m cash offer and gained 65.5 per cent of Dobbies and control of the business.
