Brazil plans curbs on strengthening Real

The Brazilian government was on Wednesday expected to introduce measures to combat the steady appreciation of the country’s currency, the real.

“The [US] dollar is melting,” Guido Mantega, finance minister, said on Tuesday. The government has become increasingly alarmed at the impact of the real’s rise against the dollar on exports of manufactured goods.
