McDonald’s posted strong second-quarter profit growth on Wednesday, but said that sharp spikes in the price of beef, chicken and cheese would force it to re-evaluate its pricing strategies.

The world’s largest restaurant group said its strongest growth came outside the US market, with global same-store sales rising 6.15 per cent compared with 3.4 per cent in the US. Revenue rose 4 per cent to $6.08bn, beating analysts’ estimate of $5.92bn, according to Thomson Financial.
