LCD panel makers forced to cut production

Display panel makers in Korea and Taiwan have just reported robust second quarter earnings. But while the headline figures look good, experts claim demand for the flat panels used by television and computer makers has peaked and the industry is heading into a downturn.

On Sunday LG Display, the world’s second-largest display maker after Samsung Electronics, said it would cut its panel production output by about 10 per cent by the end of August.
