Moves to address petrol pump pain

A US congresswoman recently complained that the high price of oil meant American families could not afford to drive their children to the shops for an ice cream.

British politicians are not yet making similar complaints but the time may not be far off – thanks to Thursday’s intervention by John McFall, Labour MP and chairman of the Treasury select committee.
