A profit warning from ScS Upholstery on Wednesday sent shares in the sofa retailer tumbling as it became the latest seller of large-ticket items to suffer from the impact of falling house prices.

ScS said after disappointing trading, especially over the early May bank holiday weekend, when sales are normally good, it now expected profits to fall in the second half.
