Tsvangirai lines up MPs for confrontation

Morgan Tsvangirai, Zimbabwe’s opposition leader, will try to seize the political initiative when he returns home this weekend by convening his party’s MPs and setting out a legislative programme in a direct challenge to President Robert Mugabe.

The leader of the Movement for Democratic Change has spent the last five weeks in effective exile, touring the region to drum up support from leaders of the Southern African Development Community over the crisis that followed the elections in late March.
