UK financial investigators on Thursday launched an insider dealing prosecution against a veteran former Cazenove partner, in a riposte to critics who say they lack the will to threaten traders with jail sentences.

The case – only the Financial Services Authority’s second criminal case over alleged insider dealing – comes as the watchdog faces growing pressure to crack down on high-profile City financiers working at big institutions.
