The amount of money raised in initial public offerings on the London Stock Exchange has surged in the past four weeks as rising activity from emerging market companies revitalises the market.

Companies raised $5.2bn (£2.7bn) in IPOs since April 16 – nearly 10 times more than the amount between January 1 and April 15 – the LSE said yesterday. Globally, there has been $15.8bn in IPO issuance since April 16, according to Dealogic.
