Mediaset, the Italian media group, is suing Googlefor about €500m ($779m) over alleged "illegal commercial use" of copyrighted video clips on YouTube.

The move follows similar lawsuits from Viacom in the US and Telecinco, the Spanish broadcaster of which Mediaset is the largest shareholder. The cases are ongoing.
