Eurozone economic sentiment tumbles

Eurozone economic confidence is slipping rapidly, with evidence mounting that a growth slowdown is hitting the region's labour market, a survey indicated yesterday.

The European Commission's economic sentiment indicator for the 15-country region dropped more than expected in April to its lowest level since August 2005 - to 97.1, down from 99.6 in March. Employers had also scaled back hiring plans, the survey showed.
