Suited and booted

I was very nervous before going to Davos. No, it was not the thought of rubbing shoulders with more than 1,000 of the world’s business and political leaders (and apparently 10,000 support staff). It was about what to wear while doing so.

You would think that being a girl would be an advantage at the World Economic Forum, where again this year only 17 per cent of delegates were female. But it is hard to stand out against the phalanxes of suited men when you can’t dress to impress. The most crucial part of a woman’s wardrobe – footwear – is not available to her. It’s hiking boots, snow boots, or nothing – otherwise you will fall over, or worse, get wet feet as you move from one venue to another.
