Macs shield Apple from recession fears

Apple on Wednesday shrugged off recession concerns as surging Macintosh computer sales helped the PC and mobile handset maker turn in better-than-expected sales and profits for the second quarter.

But the group’s shares fell in after-hours trading after it reported a fall in profit margin and issued a cautious third-quarter forecast.
