Cashback credit cards, currently offering rebates of up to 5 per cent on spending, have obvious “free money” appeal for those paying off their bills in full each month. They also generally give better value than cards with reward schemes, such as Nectar or Airmiles. Cash rebates also have the extra attraction that they can be used for anything.
But it’s possible to pocket even more risk-free cash from card spending, say experts. Card deals giving interest-free credit on purchases offer the ability to in effect earn savings interest on spending. And this could translate into hundreds of pounds more profit for the same usage.
