Goals Soccer Centres, the operator of 29 five-a-side football centres in the UK, said it would maintain rapid expansion as it reported solid first-half figures.

The company said pre-tax profit rose 19 per cent to £3.7m ($6.6m) with the prospect of recession doing little to dent the rising popularity of five-a-side football.
