Argentine farmers clash with police

Argentine farmers on Sunday began their fourth strike in three months after dramatic clashes with police on Saturday in which a prominent protest leader was briefly arrested.

The latest strike in a bitter conflict sparked by the government’s introduction in March of a sliding scale of tariffs on key farm exports runs until Wednesday, when farm leaders have called for a nationwide day of protest.
