Volvo buyers apply the brakes

Volvo, the world’s second biggest truckmaker, said on Wednesday that European truck orders had halved in the second quarter as customers turned cautious and cancelled orders because of slowing economic growth and higher fuel prices.

To avoid inventory build-ups, the Swedish truckmaker will cut production of its Renault trucks and is considering doing the same at Volvo’s European plants.
