J Sainsbury helps close gangmaster

A Cambridgeshire gangmaster found to be abusing workers supplied to farmers has been closed with the help of J Sainsbury, the Gangmasters Licensing Authority announced on Wednesday.

The support given by the supermarket chain to the authority’s investigation of ELS Recruitment, the gangmaster, reflects the concern of retailers that their brands could be badly damaged if workers supplying produce to their stores are found to have been mistreated.
