MF Global, the world’s largest independent broker of listed futures and options, on Thursday moved to strengthen its US operations by hiring Bernard Dan, former chief executive of the Chicago Board of Trade, as chief operating officer of its North American businesses.
Mr Dan’s appointment is the second high-level recruitment since MF Global was hit in February by a $141.5m loss racked up by a broker in its Memphis office who had engaged in unauthorised trading on wheat futures.
