Asian nations weigh inflation measures

South Korea’s government on Tuesday said it might introduce price controls to curb inflation expectations after official figures showed import prices rising last month to 49 per cent above their level a year earlier.

The proposal is the most dramatic of initiatives being considered by Asian governments to fight surging inflation, or to soften its impact on consumers.
