LCH.Clearnet, the London-based clearer, on Wednesday moved to shore up its business by agreeing to clear for the Hong Kong Mercantile Exchange (HKMEx), a new Asian energy exchange.

The move comes as the clearer, Europe’s largest independent, has been trying to win new business ahead of the imminent loss of ICE Futures Europe, which plans to set up its own London clearer in July.
