Pakistan’s air force on Tuesday bombed Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked militants in an area along the Afghan border, taking the death toll from four days of fighting to as many as 200.
The fighting began on Saturday after a military convoy was ambushed by militants in the north Waziristan tribal region. It comes as General Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan’s president, awaits the result of Supreme Court proceedings that will decide whether he can take office for another five-year term.
