Sales at Cineworld were 3.4 per cent higher in the 17 weeks to April 24 compared with the same period last year, despite the release of only one blockbuster film in the period, I Am Legend.

Retail sales rose 5.5 per cent and box office takings were up 3.3 per cent. Other income fell 1.4 per cent.
