Lampedusa ‘shame’ belongs elsewhere

From Mr C Charles Okeahalam.

Sir, Bernard Kouchner states that “Lampedusa brings shame on the European Union” (October 23). No, it does not. It brings shame, or should bring shame, to countries in other regions of the world who refuse to improve their governance levels and obtain the economic growth and stability that will improve the lives of many of their people. Shame should only arise, if in some way, the EU is complicit in preventing this objective from taking place.
