Executives resist new medium

Senior executives in the UK are failing to grasp the marketing potential of social networking sites, according to a study that could raise questions about the European expansion plans of Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.

A poll of marketing executives in the US, Canada, France and the UK found that all believed social networking was a lasting phenomenon, but UK businesses had encountered far more resistance from their boards to investing in the medium.
