Alliance & Leicester has brought a marketing man on board, appointing Angus Porter as a director. It is not the first time in a bank boardroom for Mr Porter, who is moving from WPP subsidiary Added Value to become strategy director of Thomas Cook next month. He was customer director at Abbey National before it was taken over by Santander and responsible for a re-branding exercise that promised to "turn banking on its head". Peter Goettler , the head of investment banking and debt capital markets in the Americas at Barclays Capital, is leaving after seven years at the bank to spend time with his family and to look after his wife, who is ill. He will be succeeded by Jim Glascott . Fairpoint Group, the personal insolvency specialist formerly known as Debt Free Direct, has hired Christopher Moat as its new chief executive. Mr Moat, who has held several management roles at GUS Home Shopping and Royal bank of Scotland, including Direct Line and Green Flag, succeeds Andy Redmond , who will become deputy chairman.
