Are Iran nuclear sanctions working?

Following Tehran’s cool reception to diplomatic overtures by the administration of US president Barack Obama, the UN last month passed a fourth set of sanctions that are being bolstered by fresh unilateral US measures and expected European Union penalties.

But are the measures working?

In a two-part analysis, FT reporters show there is little sign that sanctions – the only policy to curb the nuclear programme on which world powers agree – are achieving their aim. In fact, both missile and uranium-enrichment activities are making steady progress.
