UK crime busting agency defends record

Senior management at the UK agency established in 2006 to fight organised crime admitted on Thursday that the agency faces a budgetary squeeze and internal dissent as it defends its record as an effective organisation.

“We are attacking the world’s strongest criminals where they are weakest. We’re systematically disrupting every link in the crime chain - from finance and production to communications and distribution,” said the agency’s director-general Bill Hughes.
