S&P cuts Vietnam ratings outlook

Standard & Poor’s, the ratings agency, yesterday revised downward its outlook for Vietnam’s sovereign credit rating, the first important sign of international concern over the Communist government’s struggles to cool the country’s overheated economy.

S&P said yesterday it had revised to negative from stable its outlook for Vietnam’s sovereign rating, citing risks of “widespread economic and financial distress”.
