Robert Schofield, Premier Foods’ chief executive, called on the British government to encourage more wheat planting to restore the imbalance between supply and demand as wheat prices continue hitting new record highs.
“Bread prices around the world will go up this year,” Mr Schofield warned as Premier cut its full-year dividend in half to increase its cash flow after soaring wheat prices hurt sales of its core Hovis bread brand.
