Sir Derek Higgs is set to join the boutique Gleacher Shacklock as chairman in a move that sees him return to investment banking after more than a decade, reports Lina Saigol.

The banker who became a corporate governance expert has a swelling portfolio, which includes the job of chairman at Alliance & Leicester and Bramdean Asset Management, as well as a recently acquired seat on the Scott Trust, the ultimate owner of the Guardian Media Group, and with Jones Lang LaSalle. He is also a pro-chancellor of Bristol University.
