From Mr James Atkins.
Sir, Ron Perelman is yet another in a long line of your guests not to have eaten his lunch properly (“Barbarians at the plate”, Life & Arts, July 20). Time and time again the rich and famous having lunch with the FT order expensive food and barely touch it.
Why do you continue to invite people with such poor manners to lunch? It is particularly insensitive when many people in the world have trouble getting a decent meal. You could just invite them over for a cup of instant coffee at your offices. They might appreciate it more.
