Home Depot forecasts challenging year

Home Depot, the second-largest US retailer after Wal-Mart, painted a gloomy picture of the coming financial year and described 2007 as “one of the most difficult years ever”.

The retailer is forecasting 2008 total sales to be down 4-5 per cent and earnings per share to be down 19-24 per cent.
