It was like going walkabout with Crocodile Dundee and suddenly hearing him say: “Wouldn’t it be spiffing if we stopped for tea and cucumber sandwiches?”

We had been on the road for two hours in the biggest, toughest, meanest lump of automotive metal ever to have come out of Australia when it suggested we should stop for a “tiredness break”.
