Vivendi, the French media and telecoms company, sought to reassure investors on Thursday by maintaining its 2008 profit guidance.

Vivendi reported first-half sales growth of more than 10 per cent, fuelled by its transaction in April to secure control of Neuf Cegetel, the French broadband and telephone company.
