London
The Frontline

Since the opening production of Two Gentlemen of Verona in 1996, Shakespeare’s Globe – the reconstruction of the Elizabethan theatre on London’s South Bank – has delighted audiences with its revivals of classic plays. Wednesday night sees the opening of the first contemporary play at the Globe, written by Ché Walker, author of the George Devine award-winning Flesh Wound . The inspiration for The Frontline came to Walker while waiting for a night-bus in Camden and observing the eclectic mix of types who gathered in the diverse district. A portrait of modern London, The Frontline features songs by Arthur Darvill, Olly Fox and Walker himself. Runs until July 17.
