New twist to the rise of Tate Modern

Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron on Friday unveiled dramatic new proposals for the £215m ($430m) extension to Tate Modern.

Their first design, revealed two years ago, was for a Cubist glass pyramid radically in contrast to the original brick power station. The latest proposal instead envisages a striking brick ziggurat looming behind the Turbine Hall.
